LIVE RACING RESUMES SATURDAY AT PARX Track Returns to Four Day Week

Live racing resumes this Saturday the 25th at Parx with a terrific nine race program headed by the $300,000 Grade 3 Smarty Jones Stakes. The one mile and one-sixteenth test for three year-olds is the track?s major prep for the upcoming $1 million G1 Pennsylvania Derby to be run Saturday, September 22nd. The supporting feature Saturday is the $100,000 Salvatore DeBunda PTHA President?s Cup carded for nine furlongs on the main track.

With live racing returning to the Bensalem track, Parx will also add Sundays to its live schedule, now offering live racing Saturday through Tuesday until the middle of December.

The next month is the most significant of the racing season at Parx. On Saturday, September 1st, the track plays host to Pennsylvania Day at the Races with five stakes carded for the top state-breds in training. Labor Day Monday, September 3rd features the $300,000 Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap and the $200,000 Grade 3 Greenwood Cup. Having been cancelled in July due to extreme heat, the $200,000 Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes is now set to be run Saturday, September 8th. The card the following Saturday the 15th will be topped by the $100,000 Roamin Rachel Stakes. And finally, on Saturday the 22nd, the track offers its biggest day of the year. In addition to the Pennsylvania Derby, the card features the $1 million G1 Cotillion Stakes, the $300,000 Grade 3 Gallant Bob, the $150,000 PA Derby Champion Stakes and the $100,000 Alphabet Soup.

This Saturday will also feature special activities for the racing fans. There will be free Family Fun in the track?s beautiful picnic grove, live music from the band Common Courtesy, food and beverage specials throughout the track and much more. It all kicks off with a 12:55PM post time.
