Following the live program on Tuesday, August 7, Parx Racing will begin its scheduled break from live racing until the end of the month. Racing will resume at the Bensalem track on Saturday, August 25th.

When racing returns of the 25th, it will be Smarty Jones Day. The feature race of the day is the G3 $300,000 Smarty Jones Stakes for three year-olds. It’s the local prep for the G1 $1 million Pennsylvania Derby set this year for Saturday, September 22nd. The supporting feature on the 25th is the $100,000 Sal DeBunda PTHA President’s Cup on the turf.

Smarty Jones Day also features a host of activities for the racing fans. There will be free family fun in the picnic grove along with live music, horseshoe decorating to raise money for the track’s race horse retirement program, Turning for Home, food and beverage specials and much more – all when the track reopens again on Saturday, August 25th.
