For Immediate Release: Saturday, May 7, 2016 ABIDING STAR DOMINATES PARX DERBY Servis Wins Parx Oaks With Miss Inclusive

Stonehedge’s Abiding Star ran his three year-old winning streak to five in a row with a wire to wire victory in the $100,000 Parx Derby Saturday afternoon at Parx. The Uncle Mo colt lost all six starts during his two year-old year, but won his three year-old debut at Laurel January 1st and hasn’t lost since. In the Parx Derby, he broke sharply and was immediately in front. Cruising along under jockey J.D. Acosta, he set a comfortable pace, opened a clear lead entering the far turn, and held late running Discreet Lover at bay through the final eighth of a mile, striding under the wire two lengths in front. Trained by Ned Allard, he went off as the prohibitive 3-5 favorite, paid $3.20 to win and covered the mile and seventy yards over a track labeled good in 1:41.22.

Having just won the prestigious Kentucky Oaks yesterday with Cathryn Sophia, trainer John Servis captured the Saturday running of the $100,000 Parx Oaks with Miss Inclusive. The Include filly sat a ground saving trip behind front running Eighth Wonder before making her move rounding the far turn. Easing off the rail with just less than three furlongs to go, Miss Inclusive began to slowly close the three length gap she faced, finally wearing down the leader inside the final sixteenth. Taking the lead late, she edged away to win her first stake by a half-length. Owned jointly by Main Line Racing Stables & Joshtylane Farm, she went off as the second choice at 3-1, paid $8.00 to win and finished the mile and seventy in 1:42.18.

The $100,000 My Juliet Stakes went to Freedom Acres’ Disco Chick. The five year-old Jump Start mare broke from the outside gate in the field of 11 fillies and mares and sprinted away to a clear lead after the opening half mile. Turning for home, she turned a two length lead into a three length lead and she’d need every bit of it. Beginning to tire in the final furlong, the late runners were closing both inside and out. Four Inch Heels, again trained by John Servis, was closing up the rail while Burn Control rallied with two others on the outside. Disco Chick, though, held off Four Inch Heels late to win by a neck while Burn Control settled for third. Trained by Mario Serey, Jr. and ridden by Hector Caballero, Disco Chick went off at 5-2, paid $7.60 to win and covered six furlongs in 1:09.88.
