WARRIORSCMOUTOPLAY ROLLS TO VICTORY IN JOSTLE

Sitting a beautiful inside trip behind front running Truth in the Lies, Warriorscmoutoplay swung off the rail nearing the top of the stretch, collared the leader with a furlong to go and drew off to win the $75,000 Jostle Stakes by two and a quarter lengths Saturday afternoon at Parx. It was the third straight win for the daughter of Warrior’s Reward, her first stakes victory and pushed her lifetime to earnings to just over $139,000.

Owned by the partnership of Feel the Thunder Stable, D. Breeheim, Haynes Stable and A. Herman, Warriorscmoutoplay drew the inside post in the field of six three year-old fillies and broke together with the outside horse Truth in the Lies. Just after entering the main track in the six and a half furlong sprint, winning jockey Jamie Theriot neatly guided his filly back from a front running duel and let his speedy rival go on and set the tempo up front. While Truth in the Lies cut out fractions of 22.1 and 45.0, Warriorscmoutoplay was never far behind on the inside, a length and a half back most of the way up the backstretch and maybe two and half back midway on the far turn when Truth in the Lies tried to open it up. But when Theriot asked his filly to close the gap, she did so willingly and began to make her decisive run with about a quarter mile to go.

At that point Theriot guided Warriorscmoutoplay off the rail and took aim at the leader as they came into the stretch. She made up the ground quickly, getting to the leader at about the eighth pole and then began to pull away. She widened her lead through the final furlong, holding stretch running runner-up Darling Sky at bay and came home a convincing winner.

Sent off as the 3-2 favorite, Warriorscmoutoplay, trained by Michael Stidham, returned $5.00, 3.20 and 2.40. Darling Sky (9-1), seemed to fall back rounding the far turn, but she was resilient in the last quarter mile, making a good late run to get up for second and paid 6.20 and 4.00. Truth in the Lies (3-1) was able to hold for third and paid 3.60. The final time for the six and a half furlongs over a track labeled fast was 1:17.3.
