PENNSYLVANIA’S BEST HONORED AT ANNUAL BANQUET Favorite Tale Named 2014 PA Horse of the Year

PJG Stable’s Favorite Tale was honored as the top thoroughbred in Pennsylvania for 2014 at a banquet held Wednesday night at Parx. The three year-old gelded son of Tale of the Cat capped off a magnificent season with a resounding win September 20th in the track’s top sprint race for 3YO’s, the G3 Gallant Bob Stakes. Owned and bred by Paul Conaway, Favorite Tale started his racing career in January and quickly established himself as a top sprinter, winning his first three starts including a 14 length win in his first open allowance race. In addition to his Gallant Bob win, he also captured the $100,000 Gold Fever Stakes at Belmont Park, making him a multiple stakes winner in his first season of racing.

Other highlights from the evening included jockey Frankie Pennington winning the second riding title of his career. Trainer Ramon Preciado won the first training title of his career racking up an impressive 118 wins and a win percentage of better than 30%. Jockey Jose Delgadillo won the award as top apprentice jockey leading a tremendous group of young riders now competing at Parx.
