THREE YEAR-OLD FILLIES BATTLE IN SATURDAY’S JOSTLE

Parx will host its top sprint race of the year for three year-old fillies Saturday afternoon, the $75,000 Jostle Stakes. Contested at six and a half furlongs on the main track, the Jostle has attracted a field of seven evenly matched sprinters, with all but one seeking the first stakes victory of their young careers.

Opening as the 2-1 favorite and drawing the rail is Warriorscmoutoplay. Owned by Feel the Thunder Stable, D. Breeheim, Haynes Stable, and A. Herman, the Warrior’s Reward filly has been a little slow to develop, but comes into the race with the best form of her career. After running well but failing to win in her first six starts at the Fair Grounds and Oaklawn, she’s now put it all together and won her last two starts. She broke her maiden in a special weight at the tough Keeneland meet on April 18th and then came right back with a first level allowance win at Churchill three weeks later. Jockey Jamie Thierot will come in to ride for trainer Michael Stidham.

A local filly, Discreet Senorita drew post six and will open as the 3-1 second choice. Racing for high percentage trainer Ed Lehman, the Discreet Cat filly has been terrific this spring, rattling off three consecutive wins. After making one start as a two year-old last October, she was shelved until January 6th when she ran second in a state-bred special weight. She sat out again until April 4th when she led most of the way to win an open special weight by four lengths. Back on short rest just eight days later, she came from just off the pace to win a first level state-bred allowance by two. Her most recent start on May 4th was yet another win, again coming from just off it to win an open first level allowance by a length and three-quarters. Her stalking style could play well from her outside draw. Owned by Dun Roamin Farms, Inc. & Rosemore Farms, Inc., her regular rider Frankie Pennington will once again be in the saddle.

Another filly coming in on a winning streak is the 7-2 third choice, Truth in the Lies. Racing for Branjam Stable & David Clark, the Hold Me Back filly has won four of her eight lifetime starts including the last two. Claimed as a two year-old last October for $30,000 at Churchill, she subsequently made starts at Aqueduct, Laurel and Pimlico before making her local debut on May 1st. The Pimlico race was a two and a quarter length victory at 20-1 in a starter non-winners of three and she followed that with a resounding three and a half length win her at Parx in a first level allowance. Trainer Lou Linder has named Edwin Rivera to ride.
