LIVE RACING FRIDAY AT PARX Track Kicks Off Kentucky Derby Weekend

Parx Racing has added an extra day of live racing for this Friday, May 1st. The program will begin with a regular 12:55PM post time as the track kicks off its big Kentucky Derby weekend. Along with the live program on Friday, the simulcast schedule is highlighted by Kentucky Oaks Day at Churchill Downs. Fans can watch and wager on Oaks Day with an added special wager offered, a “daily double” coupling the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby the following day.

For Kentucky Derby Saturday, the track will open its doors early at 10AM with simulcasting beginning from Churchill at 10:30AM. The 11 race live program at Parx will again begin at 12:55PM with free Family Fun in the Picnic Grove. Ladies in attendance can compete in a special Kentucky Derby hat contest with a total of $2,800 in prizes to be given away. Kids will be able to enjoy free pony rides, moon bounces and also an opportunity to decorate horse shows with proceeds benefitting the thoroughbred retirement foundation, Turning for Home. There will be numerous food and beverage specials and mint juleps will be offered as the drink of the day.

Another special feature added for Saturday is a silent auction to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund. The items to be auctioned off are four magnificent photographs of champions Secretariat, Zenyatta, California Chrome and Wise Dan, all signed by the jockeys that rode them. Keepsakes that can be treasured for a lifetime.

Once again, the live program at Parx on Friday begins at 12:55PM.
